What is it?

The benefit consists of a refund of the principal amount of the loans granted to pensioners (formerly INPDAP and INPS) by:

  • banks;
  • affiliated financial intermediaries.

Who is it aimed at?

The refund is due to the banks and affiliated financial intermediaries (pursuant to Article 8, Ministerial Decree no. 313 of 20 May 2016) that have granted a loan to pensioners in the event that:

  • they have died before the loan was repaid;
  • the premature-death insurance was guaranteed by the Social Security and Credit Fund of ex INPDAP (Risks Fund);
  • they were registered in one of the social security schemes of ex INPDAP or INPS.

Loans subscribed after 31 May 2013 are not guaranteed by the Risks Fund.
Therefore, from 1 June 2013, the premature death risk cover for pensioners is provided exclusively by companies that are on the market.

How does it work?

Banks and financial intermediaries shall transmit to INPS, through the online dedicated service:

  • information relating to the accident (death of the insured, who took out a secured loan with amortisation in progress guaranteed by the Risks Fund);
  • all contractual documentation.

Once all the checks have been completed, including on the documentation submitted, the settlement of the residual capital guaranteed by the Credit Fund is ordered.
